Posted on April 19, 2018

A new action-filled trailer of Warner Bros. live action Bleach movie has been published! It features protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki (played by Japanese actor Sota Fukushi) training with Rukia Kuchiki (Hana Sugisaki), a Soul Reaper who gave Ichigo her power. Ichigo is also seen fighting Hollows alongside his school classmate Uryu Ishida (Ryo Yoshizaw), and fights against the Gotei 13’s Sixth Division Captain, Byakuya Kuchiki (Takamasa Ishihara) and with his lieutenant Renji Abarai (Taichi Saotome).

The Bleach Live Action Movie will cover the first 8 volumes (or 70 chapters) of Title Kubo’s original Bleach manga. Principal shooting for the film took place between September to November of 2016, meaning there are a lot of special effects and other post-production work involved in the movie as it is set to release on July 20, 2018 in Japan. Below are the latest posters for the movie. The first three feature Ichigo and Rukia, with the first one showing Ichigo and Rukia with and without Soul Reaper abilities.

The Bleach manga follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager with the ability to see spirits. Ichigo has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn’t change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits and, along with Rukia–who is slowly regaining her powers–it’s Ichigo’s job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.
