The Bleach Live Action Movie by Warner Brothers Japan just revealed visuals of the Gotei 13’s Sixth Division Captain, Byakuya Kuchiki, along with his lieutenant Renji Abarai. Ichigo Kurosaki’s school classmate Uryu Ishida has also been revealed.
Ishida is played by 24-year-old actor Ryo Yoshizawa. Byakuya is played by Takamasa Ishihara, a 36-year old singer/songwriter/guitarist better known by his stage name Miyavi. Renji is played by 26-year old actor Taichi Saotome.
The Bleach Live Action Movie, based on the manga by Title Kubo, was first announced back in 2012. It will cover the first 8 volumes (or 70 chapters) of the manga. Principal shooting for the film took place between September to November of 2016, meaning there are a lot of special effects and other post-production work involved in the movie. The movie is set to release on July 20, 2018 in Japan.
The main character, Ichigo Kurosaki, is played by a 24-year-old actor named Sota Fukushi. Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who gave Ichigo her power, is played by 20-year-old actress Hana Sugisaki. Sugisaki says, “In order to play Rukia, who is a powerful and pure Soul Reaper, I read the original manga over and over again and also watched the anime. I examined Rukia in my own way to prepare for the character. Since I have already worked with Fukushi-san in some other films, I felt relieved from the first day of the shooting. While Ichigo and Rukia are human and death characters in this story, I thought they have hearts, after reading through the screenplay. I fell in love with them whose existences are supporting each other and becoming stronger. I think I was able to feel that way because Fukushi-san was with me. I believe the friendship between the two that I actually felt at the sets will surely reach the hearts of this film’s audience.” Below are trailers for the movie and visuals of both Fukushi as Ichigo and Sugisaki as Rukia.
