Dragon Ball FighterZ: The Anime/Manga References for 22 Confirmed Characters

Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and game developer Arc System Works have been hard at work to make Dragon Ball FighterZ the best possible fighting game and the most authentic Dragon Ball game ever! In order to make it the most authentic Dragon Ball game, Arc System Works is carefully taking inspiration from the anime/manga and recreating it in video game fashion! 22 playable characters have been confirmed so far from the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super anime and manga series. Each of these characters in the game draws upon multiple references from the source material. Youtube user IKevinX has taken the time to showcase many of those references in the videos below.

As you see below, the 22 playable characters confirmed thus far in Dragon Ball FighterZ are Beerus, Hit, Goku Black, Adult Gohan, Kid Buu, Gotenks, Goku, Super Saiyan Blue Goku, Vegeta, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, Android 16, Android 18, Captain Ginyu, Cell, Future Trunks, Frieza, Teen Gohan, Majin Buu, Krillin, Nappa, Piccolo, Tien, and Yamcha. Including Android 21, who has only been announced as a story character (although she may be playable), there are 23 playable characters that have been confirmed as of this post.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a 3-vs-3 team battle fighting game in development by Arc System Works, the same developer as the acclaimed Guilty Gear fighting game franchise. Dragon Ball FighterZ delivers an explosive, action-packed game that combines classic 2D fighting with advanced 3D character models that look and feel as if they are straight out of the Dragon Ball series. It will will incorporate ultra high-speed battles and various flashy moves, including Goku’s iconic Kamehameha. Dragon Ball FighterZ will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment on January 26, 2018 in North America and Europe and on February 1, 2018 in Japan.
