UPDATE: Both Krillin and Piccolo have been confirmed playable. You can read more about by clicking here.
According to Japanese blog ryokutya2089, Shuiesha’s V-Jump magazine is confirming two new characters in Bandai Namco Entertainment and Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ! They are Piccolo and Krillin.
ryokutya2089 does not mention what attack(s) Piccolo has, but one of the attacks Krillin will be able to use is Destructo Disc. The power of Destructo Disc increases the longer the appropriate button is held down and is presumably unblockable.
In the online mode for Dragon Ball FighterZ, ryokutya2089 mentions players will be able to use chibi characters online to battle one another, which is seen in developer Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear series as well.
Since this news is not from an official source and does not have the associated image from Shuiseha’s Jump magazine, Anime Games Online classifies this as a rumor for now. The Japanese blog, however, seems very reliable and first broke the story for the two up-coming One Piece games so the likelihood of Piccolo and Krillin being confirmed in FighterZ soon is very plausible!
The addition of Piccolo and Krillin will bring the total count of playable characters confirmed in Dragon Ball Fighter Z to nine – Frieza, Cell, Buu, Goku, Vegeta, Teen Gohan, Trunks, Piccolo, and Krillin. The Dragon Ball FighterZ closed beta is expected to have nine playable characters and it is assumed (but not confirmed) this will be the roster of characters in it. Registration for the closed beta begins on Wednesday July 26. As soon as we get confirmation officially on the two new characters and as soon as details on how to register for the beta have been announced, we hope to let you know right here on Anime Games Online!
