Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer Arc System Works are bringing a new Dragon Ball video game to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2018 – Dragon Ball Fighters! This will be a 2.5D fighting game that uses a three-vs-three team battle system that incorporates ultra high-speed battles and flashy moves from the Dragon Ball franchise.
The announcement was officially made via a press release on Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan’s website. The announcement was intended to be made on June 12, 2017, however, it seems it was mistakenly posted early.
According Tomoko Hiroki, who will be the producer for Dragon Ball Fighters, a 2.5D style of graphics was chosen as opposed to 3D or 2D since there are only certain things that can be done in that style. 2.5D allows for a more broader range, but anime-like style of expression that can allow for a swift change of camera angles and unique production.
The look of Dragon Ball Fighters reminds us of Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, which was released back in June of 2008 for PS3 and Xbox 360, however, that game was developed by Dimps. Dragon Ball Fighters is in development by Arc System Works, the same developer for the Nintendo 3DS fighter Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden.
The official website for Dragon Ball Fighters will be located at https://www.dba.bn-ent.net/. As of this writing the website is not operational, however, come June 12 we’re sure it will be accessible.
Confirmed characters for Dragon Ball Fighters thus far are Goku, Vegeta, Teen Gohan, Buu, Cell, and Frieza. No additional information has been announced, but as soon as it is, we hope to let you know right here on Anime Games Online! For now, take a look at the first two screenshots from the game.
