Dragon Ball Super: TV Broadcast vs Blu-Ray Corrections

Posted on May 27, 2017

A new episode of Dragon Ball Super airs almost weekly in Japan. These episodes are animated with speed so they can be released on schedule for fans to enjoy. Months after the TV broadcast, anime episodes of Dragon Ball Super are officially released onto home video (Blu-ray and DVD) for fans to purchase for their collection. This time in release between TV broadcast and home video gives the animators time to change scenes for various reasons, including quality improvement. Most episodes don’t receive many changes, but there are a few that have changes more significant than others.

Twitter user AnimeAjay has made three comparison or corrections videos between the TV broadcast and home video (labeled as Blu-Ray) versions of Dragon Ball Super. The first one on this page is from the most recently released Dragon Ball Super box set in Japan, which hit retailers last month in April, from episode 69. The second video is from episode 25 and the first if from episode 5.

It’s worth noting the first box set (episodes 1 to 12) of the English dub and English sub of Dragon Ball Super on home video is scheduled for release on July 25, 2017.
