New Dragon Ball Spin-Off Series Announced, Debuts

Posted on December 11, 2016

The world of Dragon Ball just keeps growing, and in this case getting crazier! Japanese publisher Shueisha has announced a new Dragon Ball spin-off series that has actually already debuts today in digital manga magazine, Shonen Jump Plus. This series is titled Dragon Ball Gaiden: Tensei-shitara Yamcha Datta Ken (“Dragon Ball Side Story: The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha”) and re-imagines Yamcha as the hero of the Dragon Ball world. Specifically, an ordinary high school teenage boy falls into an accident and finds himself in the world of Dragon Ball, reincarnated in the body of Yamcha. With his knowledge of Dragon Ball, this boy trains hard to become the strongest hero in the world.

The manga is not written by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, instead it is written and illustrated by (to our understanding) a Dragon Ball fan turned official mangaka named Garow Lee. You can visit his Twitter here.

The first chapter of the manga can be read on the official Shonen Jump Plus website. Please note that it is in Japanese.
