As reported last week, we’re going back in time in the Naruto Shippuden series with flashback fillers. Via 47th issue of this year’s Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, the next arc in the Naruto Shippuden series will be titled “Shōnen Jidai-hen” or Boyhood Arc. It begins with episode Naruto Shippuden episode 480, which is overall the 700th episode when including the first 220 episodes of the original Naruto series.
The Boyhood arc will kick off with Naruto Shippuden Opening 20, titled “Empty Heart” and performed by Japanese singer/songwriter Anly. Naruto Shippuden Ending 39 will be titled “Departure Song” and performed by the Japanese idol group Ayumikurikamaki.
Later this year in the Winter, the anime will shift focus to life after manga chapter 699 and cover what’s in the official Naruto book series later this year. The three books confirmed it will cover are Shikamaru’s Story, Konoha Hiden: The Perfect Day for a Wedding, and Sasuke’s Story: Book of Sunrise.
Here are the up-coming episode titles. The episodes will be split into two – with each part focusing on a specific character.
