The Boruto: Naruto the Next Generations manga officially debuts on Monday, May 9. Spoilers have been running rampant throughout the Internet, including a rumor about Naruto’s death! Below are the first few pages. The cover page has a new character named Kawaki, Sasuke, Inojin, Chocho, Shikadai, and Naruto with Sarada, Boruto, and Mitsuki in front. Page 1 of the manga begins in the future with what looks to be teen Boruto and teen Kawaki. The two are battling in a destroyed Hidden Leaf Village. Kawaki threatens Boruto and tells him that its the end of the ninja era and that he will send him to the same place as the Seventh Hokage, Naruto. Boruto responds that even if it’s the end, he’s still a ninja and opens his scarred eye to unveil the Byakugen! Then teen Boruto and teen Kawaki charge at each other to clash.
What’s happening here exactly? Is Naruto dead or in another universe, similar to Boruto: Naruto the Movie? We’re not sure if it matters because on the fourth page, we see Boruto wake up in present time (which is during the events of Boruto: Naruto the Movie). This future battle between Boruto and Kawaki could very well have been a dream. Or it could be a preview of what’s to come in the future! In either case, it’s a very exciting way to start and we at Anime Games Online are looking forward to enjoying this manga in all of its ninja greatness!
Boruto: Naruto the Next Generations is a monthly manga in Shuiseha’s Jump magazine. Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto serves as a supervisor for the manga, art is drawn by Mikie Ikemoto (an assistant of Kishimoto-sensei when he was working on Naruto), and the story is written by Ukyō Kodachi (who wrote the screenplay for Boruto: Naruto the Movie). The manga is be black-and-white, like manga usually is, with the exception of the first few color pages. Chapter 1 is over 50 pages long. It’s unclear if each chapter will be this long, although, if you ask us, we’d love it to be at least this much, or more!
