Earlier this year, Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed all of the language options for One Piece: Burning Blood. The game will have text in twelve languages – Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.
In an interview with Bandai Namco, PlayStationLifeStyle reports the game will only have one language for voice – Japanese. There will be no English dub or any other option for audio. This is not just for Japan, but worldwide. This is because the team wants to produce the original atmosphere of the One Piece series. Of course, all voice actors from the Japanese version of the anime series we know and love will be reprising their roles.
Question: In terms of localization, is the plan for full localization including voice? Or just subtitles?
Answer: We are localizing the text for each country, but for the voice we are only using Japanese voiceover. The reason is because we want to produce the original atmosphere of the One Piece series.
We know some fans have wanted an English dub for the game, so hopefully we can see it through DLC or a possible sequel in the future to appease those fans. After all, it is easier to focus on victory while listening rather than reading in the heat of battle!
In terms of characters, the following 19 have been confirmed: Monkey D. Luffy, Portgas D. Ace, Sabo, Donquixote Doflamingo, Crocodile, Enel, Trafalgar Law, Bartolomeo, Smoker, Franky, X Drake, Roronoa Zoro, Kuzan, Brook, Eustass Kid, Sanji, Issho, Usopp, Tony Tony Chopper. More will be announced as we near the game’s April 21st Japanese launch date.
Question: In terms of the game itself, by the time it release, how many characters can we expect in the final roster?
Answer: At the current moment, we can’t announce anything official. But this is a fighting game, so we know that the amount of characters is very important for this genre. We plan to have a big roster, so stay tuned.
Question: We’ve seen in the trailer Luffy utilising his Gear Fourth ability, which is a nice touch of fan service for the anime community. Can we expect any other easter eggs or secrets of this nature?
Answer: Actually, we have some characters that [haven’t been unveiled], so it will be a surprise for you. We are also choosing characters that will be making their first appearance in a One Piece title, such as Drake. We will try to draw out the specific abilities and techniques for players to enjoy them in the game.
Last, but not least, here is new gameplay featuring Luffy, Ace, and Sabo taking on Kuzan, Crocodile, and Franky.
