Naruto Shippuden 1-Hour Special on September 11 with Revolution’s Mecha Naruto

YOSH! On Thursday, September 11th, Naruto Shippuden fans, there will be a 1-hour anime special featuring Mecha Naruto from Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution. The news comes from the previous Jump scan that confirmed Sage Mode Hashirama and Madara’s Final/Perfect Susanoo as playable in Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2’s latest fighter.

No other details were revealed, but the news comes as a surprise as the director for the Naruto Shippuden anime, Hayato Date, had mentioned there would be no more fillers in 2014 after the conclusion of the Kakashi ANBU arc. That makes us at Anime Games Online wonder if this special will be in addition to a normal canon episode or if it will be in lieu of it. Technically, one could argue that Mecha Naruto is canon since he is designed by Masashi Kishimoto (his sketch below), the creator the the Naruto manga. At the same time, however, Mecha Naruto never actually was in the manga so one could also argue against it being canon as well. Whatever the case, we are getting a special featuring Mecha Naruto in the Naruto Shippuden anime. It’ll be exciting to see how it ties in with the launch of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (which will also be released September 11 in Japan).

UPDATE: TV Tokyo, the television network which airs Naruto Shippuden in Japan, has also confirmed the Mecha Naruto special. It will air at 7 PM and run until 8 PM (Japanese Time). Normally Naruto Shippuden airs at 7:30 PM, which means this special will air in place of what could have been a manga-following 4th Ninja World War episode.

Below are images of the scan, which also shows Sage Mode Hashirama’s Wood Dragon Jutsu! In the scan, there is a red marker around the area that confirms the special.

Thanks for the heads up Toni Danielsson and Sakinder Ali!
