Naruto 662 Cover Features Mecha, Meaning Behind 7610, Volume 68 Date

Masashi Kishimoto seems to be a fan of the mecha genre! At the 2014 Jump Festa he mentioned he mentioned Mecha Godzilla was his inspiration for Mecha Naruto. In Naruto manga chapter 662, which officially releases in Japan and on Viz Media’s ShonenJump website on Monday, January 27, he features robots or mecha from the 2013 movie Elysium. They aren’t exact duplicates, but instead altered to fit the Naruto universe. You can take a look at the cover and two images from the Elysium movie below. The word “Teki” on the Naruto 662 cover means “enemy” in Japanese.

The cover also mentions the Naruto manga volume 68 release date in Japan is March 4, 2014. Volume 67 was released December 4th, 2013. In case you may be wondering about the gap in time between releases, it’s nothing to be alarmed about. Volumes 63 and 64 had a larger gap, with volume 63’s release date in December of 2012 and volume 64 in April 2013.

Lastly, the cover confirms the meaning behind 7610. That’s the number on Mecha Naruto, which was created by Kishimoto-sensei, in Namco Bandai Games and CyberConnect2’s Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution. 7610 is a play on words that roughly equates to Naruto. The number 7 in Japanese is translated to nana, 6 is roku, and 10 is pronounced as ju. Nothing mind blowing, but it’s great to have some light shed on the topic. There may be more of a back story in the actual Naruto Storm Revolution game so we’ll be sure to let you know right here on Anime Games Online if anything further is revealed!
