Namco Bandai Games America has today released a new interview with CyberConnect2 (CC2) President and CEO, Hiroshi Matsuyama. Well, technically new. This interview was recorded back in March during Wondercon 2013 so it’s actually a bit out of date, but again it was released today. In the video, Matsuyama-san says fans have been hounding him for not including the Edo Kage and Swordsmen. He states that many things have to go into consideration when creating characters and due to time constraints some characters get preference over others. However, Matsuyama-san continues on to say the fans voice has been heard and CC2 is taking into serious consideration to make them available through DLC. He wants fans to voice their wishes so they can do the best they can to implement it.
So will we get the Edo Kage (and Swordsmen) as playable characters? Honestly, until we at Anime Games Online see it, we’re a bit doubtful. We’ve given our reason to why it’s doubtful a few months back. Namco Bandai Games Europe released a FAQ saying they can’t be made playable.
For some reason, however, we still have some hope. We doubt it they will ever be officially playable, but there is a little ray of light. First because intelligent fans have been able to modify Storm 3 saves to get them playable in an offline, glitchy persuasion. And second is this interview. Are Namco Bandai Games America and Matsuyama-san just teasing us with a dream scenario? Or will they truly give the fans what they’ve been asking for?
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is Namco Bandai Games and CyberConnect2’s fourth entry in the Storm series. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 in North America/South America on March 5 and Europe/Australia on March 8, and Japan on April 18, 2013. The story for the game will begin with the Nine Tailed Fox incident from 16 years ago, continue on to the Five Kage Arc, and go up to the Shinobi War, covering the latest episodes of Naruto Shippuden as they air in Japan.
