Posted on July 28, 2012

At the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland, anime fans are currently experiencing Otakon 2012. One Piece fans can get excited as FUNimation has announced One Piece Strong World is coming to North America!

One Piece Strong World is the 10th movie in the exciting One Piece series. It is set between the Thriller Bark and Sabaody Archipelago arcs and features the Straw Hat Pirates taking on the legendary pirate Shiki to save Nami, who has been kidnapped by him. One Piece Strong World hit Japanese theaters in December 2009 and was released onto DVD and Blu-ray in the land of the rising sun back on August 27, 2010. The movie was written and overseen by One Piece’s creator, Eiichiro Oda, and is considered to be canon.

No release date has been revealed for the North American release of One Piece Strong World at this time. FUNimation has only confirmed they have home entertainment rights for the movie. In other words, we can expect to see it officially released sometime in the future on DVD and/or Blu-ray.

FUNimation also announced they have acquired home entertainment rights for the fifth season of One Piece, which includes episodes 264–336, and covers the Enies Lobby and the filler Ice Hunter arcs. One Piece Season 5 will be released in the summer of 2013 in North America.
