One of the common questions we’ve seen fans have is about the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 controls. How will they differ from Naruto Storm 2 or Naruto Generations? At this time Anime Games Online can’t conclusively say what the final control scheme will be like, but we can provide you with an idea based on what we’ve seen at the demos at the 2012 Japan Expo and 2012 San Diego Comic-Con.
In Naruto Storm 2 and Naruto Generations, in order to awaken, the character’s health needed to dip under a certain level. Then and only then upon holding the chakra button for a few seconds could they go into awakening mode. In Naruto Storm 3, in order to awaken, players will need to flick the right control stick up, down, left, or right. They can do this at anytime during the match, even the beginning. Awakening in Storm 3 brings what is known as an “Awakening Action” to the characters arsenal. This is a move that can be launched by pressing either the L1 or R1 button on the PS3 controller in awakening mode only.
One thing we will note is that the trigger for support characters is not included in the screenshot below. This is because the screenshot is from the Japan Expo demo in which Minato takes on the Masked Man. Anime Games Online’s prediction for normal matches is L1 and R1 will be for support until the character awakens, at which point those two buttons will be for the Awakening Action. That’s just our guess though, so we could be wrong.
Lastly, is the “Secret Factor”. In the Japan Expo demo, this is activated when a chakra dash is performed by Minato after Masked Man loses around a bar of health. Anime Games Online’s belief is the Secret Factor is a story mode only function, but we will have to wait and see for sure what developer CyberConnect2 has in store for us.
Again, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is still in development, so the controls may differ when the game is officially released.
The screenshots below are from the Hokage vs Nine-Tails giant boss battle. They are a bit different from the controls above from the 1-on-1 boss battle since this is a completely different type of match!
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is Namco Bandai Games and CyberConnect2’s fourth entry in the Storm series. It will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 in Japan, North America, and Europe sometime Spring 2013. We hope to have more details as soon as they become available!
