Dragon Ball Manga Returns along with Naruto, One Piece Spinoff

Posted on November 18, 2010

Dragon Ball is returning to the manga scene in the form of a fully-colored adventure called Dragon Ball SD! The manga will not be a continuation of Dragon Ball Z or GT.  It’s actually unknown at this point in time what the manga will be about or if it will be a one-shot or a multi-chapter adventure. The only thing that is certain is that it will be a spin-off that will star Goku and Krillin when they were kids. Dragon Ball SD will be created by Naho Ooishi (he worked on the manga version of the V-Jump Dragon Ball anime special which featured Vegeta’s brother Tarbel) and not Akira Toriyama, the original creator of Dragon Ball.

Naruto will also be getting a spin-off titled Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden. As the title points out this manga will be following Mr. Hardwork himself, Rock Lee.

Lastly, One Piece will be getting a spin-off called Chopperman. As you may have guessed, it features out favorite little reindeer, Chopper!

Dragon Ball SD, Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden, and Chopperman will all be a part of a new kids line of magazines called Saikyō Jump (Super Strong Jump) by Shueisha, the publisher of Shonen Jump.

Along with the Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece spin-offs, Saikyō Jump will feature spin-offs from other manga and video game series such as Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Toriko, Digimon, Dragon Quest, and Monster Hunter. The first issue of Saikyō Jump will hit Japanese newsstands December 3.

We hope to have more news and information as soon as it becomes available.
